Valentine’s Day in Lockdown

Craig Finnigan

Ok, we get it. Valentine’s Day in Lockdown doesn’t sound very fun does it?

But, we can help you change that. Just because it’s going to be different, doesn’t mean it can’t be special. You may be sad that you can’t book a trip away, visit your favourite restaurant or make a trip to the cinema, but here are some ideas for celebrating Valentine’s Day during Lockdown at home… whilst still making it special!

(P.S. we’ve obviously assumed you’ve already purchased a unique Valentine’s Day Card

1. Cook a special meal

Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or tea (dinner for you non Northerners), you can make it special. If you’re feeling brave, you could make a little more effort with all three. Add a little romantic decoration, or cook your partner’s favourite food, a little extra thought will show them that you really care. You don’t even have to do the cooking yourself if you don’t want to. Check out the local restaurants and takeaways in your area offering a collection or delivery service. Maybe this is the perfect time to treat yourself to something extra special.

2. Go for a romantic walk

A romantic getaway might be off the cards, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get some quality time together. There are plenty of beautiful spots in the UK. Check out our blog post Most romantic places in the UK to see if any are near you. Don’t worry if not, being out in the great outdoors getting some fresh air away from the stresses of day to day life will be a welcome change.

3. Get dressed up

When was the last time you put in the effort to feel glam? If you’re anything like us you’ve probably lived in comfy clothes for the majority of the last year. Make a change for Valentine’s. Get dressed up and put on your favourite scent. You’ll be surprised how different it’ll make you feel.

4. Movie night

If you don’t fancy leaving your comfy clothes just yet, how about creating a home cinema experience. Snuggle up, maybe set up some fairy lights and put out a range of snacks. Perfect!

5. Arrange a fun activity

Now is the time to get creative. Maybe you could try making homemade cocktails together, or create a wine or beer tasting experience. Perhaps you could play a game together, but raise the stakes...we’ll let you use your imagination for potentials here, but it really could be a giggle & maybe transport you back to the earlier stages of your relationship.

6. At home Spa

A trip to a luxurious spa may not be possible this year, but you can still forget about the stresses of work & homeschooling with a DIY spa. We’re thinking aromatherapy candles, face masks, fluffy robes and massages. Bliss!

7. Romantic night under the stars

It may be cold outside, but if you’re lucky enough to have an outdoor space you could turn this into the perfect romantic setting. Plus, the colder weather is the perfect reason to snuggle up. Get the blankets out, outdoor heater, twinkling lights and raise a glass or two under the stars.
